Throwback to "Awake", one of my favourite commissions from 2019. This was a very special 40th birthday gift that travelled all the way to Australia.
These Pearl-spotted Owlets are only about 17-20cm from head to tail (can I get an "Aaaaw!"?!), and are active mainly at dusk and dawn. When this tiny little owl gets excited, it owl cocks its tail and flicks it from side to side (swooooon!!!)!
We were lucky enough to finally see one in the wild on a fabulous camping trip to the Kgalagadi last year. It was the final morning of the trip, and I had literally just given up hope of seeing one, when on my final trip to the loo, another camper pointed it out to me. There it was, perching casually on the tippy top of a big tree, right there in the Nossob camp site!
Although the original "Awake" already found its forever home, I have 20 limited edition, archival quality prints available in my online shop.
