I love doing what I do, and my passion and happiness is - and will always remain - the driving force behind my work. But MAN, it does feel good when the world gives you a little pat on the back...!
The Watercolour Association of South Africa recently hosted an international online exhibition and competition, entitled "Expressions of Hope". I'm so pleased to say that my incidental lions (in case you missed it, I had a ludicrous fall and almost destroyed the painting!), "Mother's Pride", received an honourable mention in the Artists category. You can see the worthy winners and judges critique here.
The one-of-a-kind original of "Mother's Pride" is still looking for its forever home, as well as only 20 limited edition, fine art prints!
Just last week, Alex and I found out that our hand-crafted, wooden animal masks were shortlisted for the Innibos National Craft Awards, a prestigious competition that gives SA crafters an opportunity to showcase their work. This year, the awards received just under 2 000 entries, of which 63 were shortlisted for judging by a panel of independent and expert adjudicators. The entries were mind-blowingly cool, and all the winners very well deserved! You can watch the winners' announcements here.
You can read all about how we make these masks in this blog post. See them in my online store, here.
