Spill the paint: Show me all the birds!
Share
This little collection brings together every bird that featured in my 2026 annual calendar (sold out - thank you!). Some of these paintings are older, some are brand new, but they all share one thing: a deep love for South Africa’s extraordinary Feathered Friends. Most were painted in watercolour -- obviously my favourite, and just the perfect medium for feathers and their soft, layered, sometimes almost translucent nature...
South Africa is home to an astounding number of bird species, and once hubby Alex and I really start looking, it was impossible not to fall in love with birding! You spot a tiny little thing perched on a branch, flashing colours you’d swear couldn’t possibly be real - electric blues, burnt oranges, impossible greens - and suddenly you’re hooked. I love the Big Boys just as much as the next person, but I really, really love the little guy! Birding has a way of slowing you down and sharpening your sense of wonder, forcing you to notice little things that are truly magnificent!
So, it was very apt that I focussed my attention on creating birds last year. It is certainly a theme I wish to revisit in the future!
Enjoy meeting my birds!
Only a handful of these original bird paintings are still available, quietly waiting to fly off to their forever homes... However, most of this collection lives on as limited edition, fine art prints:
