"Suutjies Trap" in time lapse

If youâre Afrikaans speaking, you might immediately understand how wonderfully clever my chameleonâs title is, compliments of my brilliant mother.
In Afrikaans, a chameleon is a âverkleurmannetjieâ, which loosely translates to âlittle colour manâ. A lesser known, probably more old-fashioned term is a âtrapsuutjieâ. âTrapâ means to tread or step. âSuutjiesâ means gently, lightly or on tip-toe. Therefore, the title âSuutjies Trapâ translates to âtread lightlyâ. How apt for the delicate, tip-toe-ing Cape Dwarf Chameleon! And who doesnât love a punny pun?!
