When it rains, it pours...

When it rains, it pours...

“When it rains, it pours.”

Expressions like this exist for a reason. This particular one exists because, since the beginning of time, man faced this unfortunate truth: Hecticness (Real word? Not sure… But when surrounded by hecticness, coming up with a real word for the feeling of ‘hecticness’ seems pretty trivial…) always invites company.

Instead of a gentle flow of challenges, commitments, fabulous-opportunities-that-take-up-more-time-than-you-have-available, unforeseen drama, new endeavours, emergencies, hosting birthday parties and tummy bugs, all of the above tend to merge into our life at the same time. Instead of these occurrences joining the throng of Life’s highway by way of well organised, intermittently spaced off-ramps, it resembles a busy four-way intersection at peek time on a Friday afternoon. And it’s load shedding. And all the motorists have road rage. And we’re the dummy standing in the middle of that intersection trying to direct traffic!

February has been just such a month for me. I’m feeling more than a little overwhelmed, waving my white, glove-clad hands like a maniac, to no avail (and I think I’ve swallowed my whistle)… This past month, more times than I’d like to admit, I’ve waved the white flag and cried out, “I’M JUST ONE LITTLE PERSON!!!”.

At times like these, I wonder if this is my Great Test; if there is some deep, life-changing lesson(s) to be learnt, if only I can just see it through all the smog. Other times, I think Someone is just messing with me... Ha!

There is no point to my rambling today. No words of wisdom. No fresh tidbit of advice or magical solution.

But, I know there is great value to knowing that you are not alone. So, I dedicate the above rant and the brief bit of news below (brief, ‘cause I gotta get back to dealing with the hecticness!) to anyone out there that just needs to know that they are not alone in the storm. Yes, YOU!

Amidst all the hecticness, let’s vow to take a moment to dance in the rain together. I bet it will be a friggen awesome party!
