The "jocks" at Decorex...

It's always interesting to see which products draw the most attention at an event. This year at the awesome Cape Town Decorex - without a doubt - it was our wooden animal masks that were the true jocks of the show. It made us feel like proud parent bears! These artworks are an absolute labour of love that I get to share with Alex (my hubby and live-in carpenter). Hand-crafted using recycled pallet wood and individually hand-painted, each piece ends up boasting a totally unique personality.
I dreamt up the idea during lockdown - a time when I was either so depressed that I couldn't get out of bed, or a creative genius! Alex had so much scrap wood lying around, and I wanted to create a wall art range that was expressive and different! Beyond that, I honestly don't know how the idea came to me... I often just wake up with a solution in my head when I've been mulling something over for a while -- the power of our subconscious, I think! You can learn more about the creation process of these bombastic beauties in this blog post.
Take a virtual stroll through our Decorex stall in the quick video below, and see if you agree that our masks earned their place as the jocks of the show!
